To what end?

Seriously, what do you expect "marching against Monsanto" is going to do? Raise awareness? The average Las Vegan* could not care less. Go to Costco sometime and have a look at what's in people's shopping carts -- processed crap. Cases of frozen corn dogs. People here for the most part do not care what's in their food. Furthermore they're willfully ignorant about it.

If you want to hurt Monsanto (and I'm all for that, incidentally) don't buy any of their products. It's not easy to do these days.

* And until "average Las Vegan" can be taken as a compliment, things are never going to get any better.

Sad to say, but Scoop is right. As much as I hate Monsanto, there's no winning this battle. Marching accomplishes nothing... truly nothing.

Meh, it makes people feel good inside to march and protest. Obviously no one is stupid enough to think it will actually have an impact, but if it makes them feel good, no harm in it.

Well the weather is nice and there's nothing wrong with getting together with like-minded people. But effecting change? Not happening.

I'm torn on the issue...many European countries have banned GMO's so it can be done.

People do willfully eat a lot of garbage...on occasion I do too....my issue is that I'd like to be in control of it and be able to choose. I don't like that even traditionally healthy food have now been altered to where they are just as bad as the processed crap.

Compare the "average European" to the "average American." There's your reason, right there.

I wonder if other developed countries have the same self-loathing that so many Americans have.

It's certainly in vogue here lately.

This isn't just a Las Vegas march, it's everywhere. You should not hold this against Las Vegans as this whole country eats horrible, generally speaking. They have already increased awareness from their last march. If it does nothing for my generation maybe it will help the next generation. I agree it's a tough one because it is all about money and greed. I don't agree that it can't be done. I have purchased non gmo food at Costco. At the very least, I want the food to be labeled. Willfully ignorant? I don't know. I had no idea about this whole gmo/Monsanto thing until I started seeing it in the social media. I think it was, and still is, something Big Brother wants kept on the down low. Certain posts get deleted on Facebook that are against Monsanto. Coincidence? I think not.

I have changed my food purchases lately, but as was mentioned, even "organic" isn't all non gmo.

Regardless, I'm going. Good exercise, if nothing else.

Has a lot to do with the government, IMO.
