nice thanks so GN is the best bang for the buck huh....that saved me a lot of research. and next one up are the plaza and El cortez? I will look into those too! GN is 66 bucks a night now according to tripadvisor. What site did you use to get 50 bucks a night? hmm yeah if I stay from Tuesday to Friday it's 66 a night, if I stay until Saturday it's 100 a night wow they really rip you off on weekends.

yeah I was wondering why that 11 bucks a night hotel was so cheap, pretty sure it's in a horrible location like with hookers and drugs etc. But GN and the other 2 hotels they are in good neighborhoods right?

They are both under the canopy within walking distance...and 100 on a weekend at the gn is definitely not a ripoff.

GN is a very nice place, beautiful, even...but I don't know if I would stay there again any time soon. The walk from the street to the room was a good 20 minutes, I swear. UGH. So many twists and turns to get to the room, it is amazing we did it without a map! If you get all the way downstairs and realize you forgot something up in the room, you have to really want it to make that walk again! GREAT buffet though!

I know the OP is in town to find a place to stay and not just for fun, but I much prefer Four Queens or Main Street Station just for the fact that they are easier to get around. (and not too pricey most days) I'd totally stay at Golden Gate, but then again, I am not picky.

I think three days is a really short time line to find and apartment and move in (I assume your not flying in, setting up, then flying back, and then flying back in to stay.) I'd plan on a week in the hotel. I'd also time it so the last day of the hotel stay is the last day of the month. Most LL will probably want a tenancy to start on an even month.

The more residential places LVOC mentioned are probably better for this purpose than the tourist hotel/casinos. Easier to get in and out of, an more likely to be near where you want to be looking for apartments. Do you have any idea what area you want?

Once you move in, what are you going to do for a car?

Are you paying for this, or is this some sort of job relocation where the employer is paying?

My plan is to get a hotel and a rental car for 3 days or so, get a car and find an apt (month to month lease since it will be a short stay) then get a house while I am staying in the apt. So maybe 1 month if everything goes smoothly up to 3 months I guess.

So I gonna use hotels.com , or orbitz to book hotel

How about for apartments? or do you have any other suggestions guest house or something, I gonna want it furnished, have internet, cable of course. Since I will be getting a house soon and will be moving out in a month or 3. Don't wanna buy bed, chairs etc.

need an agent too, probably gonna interview a few in Vegas or check online.

Need a cell phone too, but I don't talk much on the phone, maybe just buy only the phone and get unlimited data every month ?

areas that I should stay away from in metro vegas?

thanks guys

I am flying in and will be settling down, won't be flying back unless I don't like Vegas then I would need to fly out somewhere. Ya 3 days is kinda short well I was thinking I will look up apartments online and pick several of them, look at them during the 3 days then move in...too short make it a week?

I will probably look for apt in Henderson area or so-so to good neighborhoods. the places LOVC mentioned they all want 100 dollar and above for one night, pretty expensive.

Yeah I gonna rent a car first then get a car. I am relocating and I am paying for all of this. you can chip in if you want, lol no, thanks for all the questions and answers you (guys) are really helping me out here.

after staying in hotel I need to move to apt or something like that, would need at least bed, tv, internet for 1 to 3 months until I get a house (so furnished I guess). any suggestions? thanks!

Default Okay - Where Did You Finally Move?

Hey Guy, Just wondered where you decided to settle down in Las Vegas. Did you end up downtown or in one of the low cost weekly rentals or with your cousins? Wish you all the best.

Motel 6 across from the MGM is good for a couple days, we stayed there. Only 1 night though while we were waiting to move into our apartment.

I'm in exactly the same situation as yourself. After living as an expat retiree in SE Asia for the last ten years, I arrived in Vegas about ten days ago to purchase a retirement home. Originally from L.A. with a long history of visiting Vegas, so I new in advance that this was the place for me.

I'm staying at Extended Stay America-East Flamingo and am quite happy with the accomodations. Not the greatest of neighborhoods but the staff is super helpful and you're in close walking distance to major retail, banking and restaurants. Bought a $10.00 Samsung pay-as-you-go Tracfone at Target, loaded it with a $30.00 card and make calls for nine cents a minute.

I did a little online research re realtors before arrival, emailed several with my requirements and got hooked up with a great agent before my arrival. After one day of jet-lag recovery we were out looking at homes and found a great condo in about 5 days, am now in escrow and close the end of the month.

So far it's been a piece of cake and hope your experience will be as smooth as mind. My only advice--do a little research in advance and keep things as simple as possible.

rdangel I just got here not too long ago also! what an coincidence, I am also staying in a similar extended place, I got pre-paid tmobile but the phone calls lag and their services are horrible. Thinking about changing but the phone I also got it in tmobile so will be costly to unlock, but just found out they don't have contract, they can do monthly to monthly and if I don't like it I just don't pay the next month! I am goin to try that as I need tethering for my laptop. The wifi in this place is soooooooo bad, how's the internet in your place? I might have to move or pay more for tethering.

so wow you found a place so fast, but you visited vegas a lot while you were in LA. I have been looking at houses but you never know if agents telling you are truth. so you gotta do more research yourself, and I am new in the place so it will take awhile but this forum is great help! thanks to everyone of you. anyways for agents here you don't need to sign a contract with them before they start to show you the houses? you sign it when you find the house you want? I want to look at more houses and more areas before I really put that much money into it. but at the same time I also want a nice place to settle in as soon as possible, so I really got to be quick and be patient at the same time I guess.

any idea how much I can talk down the listing price in this current market? 5%? 15%? this friend said you pretty much pay however much the listing price is in Vegas....

for realtors just get their realtor license and check online then it should be no probelm right? probably most of the RE companies here are ok maybe dont' really need to investigate that much, but don't really know anyone here so.

man I really want to get into a house before xmas, need to hurry up maybe.
