What a nice casino. I had a chat with the floor manager. I'm not sure he really cared, but he said he'd talk to the pit boss.

Another casino to mark off the list...
My guess is he was making an attempt at humor. I also was there yesterday, as they have been piling the dining comps on us as of late and I had a $40 voucher to use. The dealers are not the most pleasant I've come across, that's for sure. Many don't have as firm of a grasp on the English language as I would find conducive to conversation. There's one dealer with whom I really like playing, and will play any game he's dealing, but, other than that, I would agree with the personality level you indicated.

I did try 2 new casinos yesterday, neither of which I had visited. Gold Coast was one. Amazed at the amount of Pai Gow and Baccarat tables, until the dealer pointed out their proximity to Chinatown and it made sense.

Walked over to Rio after. Very nice dealers there from my personal interaction. Slots were tight, as can be expected from casinos on/near Strip, but made a little on the tables.

This has been my worst trip (for gambling) since we started coming here in the 1980's. If things don't turn around tonight I am finished for the week. I know blackjack odds and this is slanted way too far towards the casinos.

Time for some sight seeing.

The line about them calculating their profits before you place your first bet confuses me a bit. Can you explain that a little? Do you think it affects the cards that are dealt to you?
Generally, it is so rigged that they know how much you will gamble, and on what, before you get off the plane. That's how good the bean counters are at managing profits. They take their number, and set the dining prices, room prices, resort fees, and machine payouts to meet that number. And of course the bean counters meet with the bean counters from the other casinos to collude on payouts. Does that affect the cards dealt to you? Most definitely, because instead of getting a single deck, you are forced to play out of the shoe. Instead of playing .25 slots, you gotta play 1 usd slots. About the time LV turned into a family destination, they got away from the feed them for cheap and get them drunk, and we'll get them in the casino, to we need to get them coming and going, and everything must be a profit center. Of course, the unions make matters a lot worse for the gambler (but better for the employees), but that seemed to be the end of a lot of really good food deals. I would rather gamble in Reno any day of the week, and last time I went to Laughlin, I stayed 15 months, and left with 16K more than I came with.

Room rates, food and bev pricing are set due to consumer demand. The days of gaming supplementing the non gaming revenues are long gone. Las Vegas is now more of a party destination where gaming is really optional pastime. The $ now is at the bars and box office. The reason you see more shoe games and auto shufflers is due to more hands per hour = more $ for the house. Slots are set by consumer demand also. The house is going to make more money from Mary Ann playing a 1c machine at an average of $3.50 per spin over John playing a $1 machine at 3$ per spin. Its not the extra 50c per handle that's really helping out the house but the hold percentage of the lower denomination machines is greater than the higher denom machines.

Even when playing optimal strategy, BlackJack is still a game of luck and timing. Sounds like you had a bad streak this week. If you're not playing the side bets and are playing a 3/2 table, the odds are the same no matter where you play. I have been playing more double deck recently so I don't get stuck with a "bad shoe". And I don't play on the ASM tables. I know the cards are still random, but even when I was a dealer, it seemed like people would win much more seldomly on the ASM tables.

I also have been trying some of the novelty games, just for fun. Worked out the other day at GVR, hit the progressive with a royal on Ultimate Texas Hold'em. That may be my new favorite game

Did you notice the minimums at the PaiGow tables at Gold Coast? I go over to Gold Coast sometimes for the breakfast buffet and I don't think I've ever seen a Pai Gow table open there early in the morning with less than $25 minimum..(and they're always empty)..crazy

I played on a $10 table.. there were some 25s, but I also saw lots of $5 and $10 tables. I never bet less than $15 anyway, so either a $5 or $10 works for me. I didn't go early in the morning, though, rather late afternoon.

I love HCF. I prefer M vs GVR or PH. Last time I played I got a 5 card flush with a 4 card straight flush. First time in my life I ever got to handle a purple chip. I left a nice tip and high-tailed it to the cage and out the door faster than lightning. Funny thing is I didn't even realize I had the 4 card SF. I just saw the 5 card and was like WOO-HOO!. I have seen 1 6 card with a 5 card SF by another player one time. They walked away with a couple grand.

I had 1 4 card SF yesterday, and 6 or 7 3 card SFs. No 6 card flush, though. There's always today After I hit the progressive on UTH at Green Valley, I've been playing that more as well. Just low-rollin' at $5 on each spot. As much as the side bets are for suckers, I have made almost $9000 on them this week. Now I rotate between 3CP with the 6 card bet, UTH, and HCF. I find all 3 enjoyable, and that's why we play, right?
