Not even close to the highest car payment. It's a long story.

$250 on groceries will not even fill a hand basket at the market anymore. Living on ramen, mac and cheese, canned tuna and Bar S hotdogs and bologna for the month is no life. 550 is not going to get you much of an apartment and expect roaches and bad neighbors at that rate.

Not sure where you shop but if you are paying $250 for the things you mentioned you need to have a course in how to grocery shop

$250 for a single person is high

Where are you shopping? Whole paycheck? For $250 a month for one person, I could feed them three gourmet meals a day, maybe even for two people.

Agreed on the 550 rent, though.

Most definitely. When I first moved out here, I was subbing/delivering pizza and pulling in 2200 a month.

Had no car payment. Only student loan, and apt costs. I dont care to gamble but love to hike ie utah,az,california. My wife was in school, and we made it work.

The post was not meant to be taken literally. But $250 is on the light side when you include fresh fruits and vegetables. $250 is more inline with a carb centric diet for a single person.

This kind of statement gets me all excited, like a puppy... Let me help, let me help...

Probably more appropriate for the chat thread though.

Op can survive on 25k per year, but it will not be fun.

I think we can both agree that you can make it for much less but quality of life may be lacking. We use to have one poster that lived on much less but existed oatmeal and spaghetti and cheap beer on a daily basis. Then lived a hermit life in a studio apartment and his only social existence was his postings on various forums.

Much of my driving is work related; the rest is kid related-- a lot of back and forth daily
