So many of our streets here are 45 mph, so if you're doing 11 miles over, you are essentially doing highway speeds on city streets with pedestrians and little kids around -which doesn't stop people from treating Ann Rd. as an extension of the 215.

I've had one moving violation in my life, which was for driving 11 miles over the limit on Eastern (which is a 35, but I was driving it like it was a 45, so I was going 46). The cop who gave me the ticket is the guy I ended up dating. In the end, I'm glad I got that ticket. I was starting to drive like the rest of the asshats in Vegas.

There's a memorial for a young mother killed in an accident near my home. It's a good reminder, but people don't heed it.

My wife also got one here on Wigwam a couple days after we moved here. Didn't realize it was a 35, figured it was 45 due to the width. She was going 48, but surprisingly got a warning. I was talking about 9 mph over on the freeways (if that). On surface roads I don't go more than a mile or two above, if that. Without income tax, traffic citations are a huge revenue stream, and from what I understand, warnings are pretty rare. Her license (from the state we had just moved a couple days prior) had expired the day before, and that was an $800 ticket. We don't bend traffic laws here from that point.

And beware! While Metro may allow 11 or 12 over - it ain't gonna be that in North Las Vegas!!!
You see one of those blue and white patrol cars, you better watch your speed 'cause they'll pull you over in a second for ANY traffic violation.

They may not have a quota, but North Las Vegas is in deep doodoo financially that they'll do anything for income.

Let's not get off onto speed limits and tickets for speeding. I think we've had other threads on that where you can discuss that issue.
