Is it necessary for one to have a gaming card to work at a casino (not as a dealer) or a hotel? I'm referring to positions like a bellman, valet, etc. If a card is necessary, what does it entail to obtain one?
Thanks!

"Since 1947, to work on the premises where liquor and gaming are present a person must obtain a Sheriff's Card, (Work Card). It is mandatory in the State of Nevada regardless of what your position is in a gaming establishment. The purpose of the work card is to document, investigate and license all employees of the gaming and liquor industry. "

If you get a job at a casino, they'll send you to get the card. You don't need to get the card prior to getting hired.

Thanks for the link...If I read it right, I would have to pay the fees (not the employer). Correct?

Can anyone give some insight as to how easy/difficult it is to become employed with a hotel? Again, it would be for a non gaming position....

There are many more people looking for those jobs, than there are jobs.

I was never asked to obtain a Sheriff's Card. And I work on premises where liquor and gaming are present. Hell, I often work directly with liquor. Sometimes it even goes into the food....
