Just to let you know, I have called 6-7 shutters companies here in Vegas and they all had different prices.
Some of them charged me 3000 $ and some 2000 $ for same job.
I have decided to go with cheapest one and now after 3 years I can say I did right decision. My shutters still look like new and white without any discoloring.

90% of shutters are made in Korea,China or Philipines I think so you will have to wait at least 2 months to get them.

And yeah, every company will tell you they have discount today and you need to decide right now to get it

Be smart and call around for the best deal

I was deciding between wood and faux blinds. I chose a dark brown color. My design person recommended wood for dark brown. I did some checking and found that faux was fine on white but didn't like the way it looked on dark brown. I went with the wood.

Default yellowing faux wood blinds

I have researched every website regarding how to whiten blinds. My Blinds were purchased at Home Depot over 10 years ago I tried everything everyone suggested bleach, baking soda, magic eraser and nothing worked. so I resorted to painting each flat with Krylon 2x plastic paint. they turned out just like new. see the results for yourself.

I have real wood shutters on 6 of my windows. Probably were built when the house was built, I'm sure they were custom. They haven't cracked or changed color at all. I'm amazed they are still there and in great shape. Some have been painted and others haven't.

I believe it is UV light that tends to fade them. Certain two-part aliphatic clear coat polyurethanes contain UV light absorbers to protect the underlying pigment. It is probably more work than people might want, but you could spray both wood & faux wood plantation shutters & that would solve the problem.

Also, 3M sells a window film (for professional installers) that substantially reduces (essentially eliminates) the transmission of both IR and UV light through windows, preserving most of the optical clarity in the visible spectrum. We had this installed in our homes in Silicon Valley, and after 20 years of no window treatments, there was no fade to furniture fabric, carpeting and the like. The bonus is it reduces solar heat gain in the summer (from outside to inside) while also reducing heat loss in the winter (from inside to outside).
