I saw someone suggest these as a good way for LV newcomers to meet people with similar interests/make new friends in town. I was just wondering if anyone here has ever tried one of these "meet ups" and what did you think? What meet up did you go to and was the experience positive? Negative? Just not for you? And finally. . .why? I know that's a lot of questions, but my husband and I are thinking of trying this when we finally make the move later this year. He's in his early 40's and I'm in my early 30's. So, I was just looking for some feedback. Thanks!

Most of those groups have some interest in common. Haven't done a lot of the group thing, but did belong to the Las Vegas Jaycees at one time, and later the Sierra Club. Anyway, find one that does stuff you enjoy. There are lots of groups that enjoy the out doors stuff: hiking, biking, skiing, dirt bikes, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, back packing, fishing, camping, hunting, etc., etc. You name it, I think we have a group for it.

Find your people - Meetup

Here's a couple I've been following from afar (health makes it hard to do gonzo stuff now):

About Friends of Nevada Wilderness

Protectors of Tule Springs > Home

The main thing is, be cool. You'll probably be here for the rest of your life and you'll meet lots of people with lots of interest.

Why don't you go to one you feel is reputable with a lot of people and experience it first hand for yourself?
