Hi, my boyfriend and I will be relocating to the area in April. I have read that Henderson and Summerlin are safe. How close proximity are they bad to unsafe areas? I know there is crime all around, but I would like an area where I can walk my dog at 5:30 & 8:30am since she gets hot easily, she needs her long walks in the mornings. Have heard that there are good walking trails. Are there any that have fountains? I like near Kansas City and during the summers, I can walk her under a fountain so she doesn't get overheated. (I hold her)

My boyfriend us a hair stylist and will probably work close to the strip. What us the proximity from Henderson and Summerlin to the strip where all the hotels are? How bad is the traffic?

What areas are safe but is family oriented? I am 40 but we will soon start to have a family.

Thanks in advance,

Karrah

I noticed it appears you have been considering several cities over the past few months.
If you have the money to relocate without jobs in place then you have enough money to come out for a visit first.
Not trying to be rude, just being realistic. You are aware that Vegas still is struggling with high unemployment rates, some of the highest in the country, right? I would think competition for a hairstyling position that would comfortably support two people will NOT make it easy for him unless he has an AMAZING resume and even then perhaps a challange.
Vegas is no longer the "fake it til you make it" economy it once was.

Now if you guys have plenty of savings to float on and he has REAL reason to believe he could get into one of the better salons it might be workable. Vegas is a great city but its probably one of the worst places to move on a whim right now.

Be sure you guys have all your ducks in a row AND a backup plan.

Don't go to the parks in Summerlin, you will get mugged just like the Mayor's son! He got knocked out!
