I am self-employed and I have already been in Vegas for awhile, really need to get that insurance just in case, I am in my mid 30s, no pre-conditions or anything serious. Can you guys recommend some decent health insurance companies?

Well, you're lucky to be asking today of all days. Tomorrow is the deadline if you want to sign up for a plan under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) exchange: https://www.nevadahealthlink.com/

Personally, I think you'll have more choices if you select a plan from here that meets your own needs: http://www.ehealthinsurance.com/

Basic plans with minimal coverage start at $175/month. More expensive than cable TV, but infinitely more important. Good luck.

Take a look at: Nevada Health COOP

They're basically the Culinary Unions' Health Fund available to the public. I've signed up with them and have been very happy.

Good luck!

Until you get into a major accident or get something serious, like cancer. Then what?

Well if I have a major accident? I have auto insurance.
I seldom leave the house though so seems unlikely but I have it just in case.

As for cancer etc, as a chronic pain patient, I have already made arrangements. I will not be seeking treatment for such things to prolong a life that is almost unbearable now and only getting worse.
I am rooting for a heart attack or stroke to be honest. If I go down no one is calling 911.

My mother had the same condition and refused kidney dialysis when she got bad enough to need it.. Much to her Dr's disappointment.

They expect I will quit breathing on my own at some point due to the nature of my illness so that is my likely exit strategy. Or if my wife passes first I will likely down a handful of pain pills and wash them down with a few pina colada's on a tropical beach...

Studies show about 1/2of the folks in my position do such things at the end.

So I wring as much as I can from each day as long as I can take it.

besides that you only need insurance if you have something to protect. As far a monetary thigs go they already have it all nothing left to take.
