Is there a company that sells cast-offs, surplus, or deeply discounted laminate countertops? Formica, whatever. This isn't going into a kitchen. This is strictly utility, which I will remove and discard when I move -- thus I don't care what it looks like, only that the surface is waterproof and chemical-resistant. (Photographic darkroom.)

It doesn't help you since there isn't one in the area, but I bought a not-so-bad looking 8' piece of laminate countertop for my wife's craft room for less than $70 at Ikea. It was surprisingly heavy - 84lbs. Maybe you know someone who is driving up from LA.

The guys who make Ikea runs to CA charge $25 plus 25% for home delivery on orders under $1500.

PRÄGEL Countertop - 73 1/4x25 5/8 " - IKEA

Still too much. I'm thinking Habitat for Humanity ReStore prices -- but they're SO hit-and-miss. The counter's only requirement is that it isn't porous. Something that cleans up easily -- because fixer is a right pain to clean, and none of these chemicals smell good.

Find someone demoing out a cheap kitchen. Is there some sort of freecycle website in Vegasland?

That is a good idea. However, I'm not sure our freecycle is still active. I used to be a member but I don't recall any emails from them recently.

YOu can pick up a 4x8 piece of formica for $30 or $40. I am sure you have a router and can cut it to fit whatever.

Problem with anything demoed out is you have to get there up front as they almost always damage it in removal.

I'm pretty sure that in due time someone will say, "I have a hot-pink Hello Kitty formica countertop that I'm dying to be rid of."

Since I'm turning my laundry room into a darkroom, I don't care what color it is. This is my personal project to quit hating Las Vegas so much. I don't like the city. But I DO like the surrounding area. So I'm going to realize my lifelong dream of traveling around the American West, shooting artsy-fartsy pictures using antique photographic equipment. I've been spending money like a drunken sailor lately, buying every "wish-list" piece of photographic equipment I've ever dreamed of.

Besides the countertop, I'm also in the market for anything that made by Leica, Hasselblad, Zeiss or Zone VI. I should probably post a "Looking for Leica or Hasselblad cameras, Zeiss, Leica/Leitz, Fujinon/Nikkor/Rodenstock/Schneider lenses, or Zone VI photographic and darkroom equipment" message on C-D. Craigslist is a wretched hive of scum and villainy. I'll never find anything there.
