Is this related to the other thread where people had to wait to get into Rhodes Ranch?

No, Rhodes Ranch is Guard Gated. Plus, they were talking about going there on Thursday, the new dialing code just started on Saturday.

I have to say though, Rhodes Ranch is the worst for getting in. We have a couple customers, that the guards give us problems with. Even the customers are upset with them. The customers have us on as monthly, always allowed. And the guards try telling us that we are not on the list. I have one that got so upset, he went down and cussed the guard out for not doing his job right.

Golden Gate had the phone number of "1" (the things you learn on a Du-Par's placemat)

Well here is another problem in the older gated communities the call boxes only have programs set up for 7 digit numbers and will not work for 10 digit numbers. What is the cost to do this??? I know my HOA which is cheap and does not want to do anything is in a fix the call box here is a 7 digit one. I personally think gated communities are a joke and a waste of money. It will be amusing to see how our cheap HOA responds to this and how they will stick us with the bill or just leave it 7 digit and tell us they are working on it with the intention of not changing it.

You may not dial a 1. If you dial a 1, you will hear an error message telling you that a 702 area code number is not a toll call, and hang up & redial without the 1.

Wow, that sucks. I did not know that the call boxes were set up that way. I thought they had to allow for 10 digit dialing. I know we have quite a few customers with out of state numbers, and no land line. I wonder how that works for those type of people.

Don't feel too sorry for the HOAs. They have known about this change for well over a year.

The rub is many of the older boxes were not retrofitable and had to be replaced.

Not feeling sorry for HOA's, LOL. Just sucks for us service providers that are not given actual gate codes, and look customers up through the box.

When I got my phone, almost 2 years ago, I had to start dialing the area code, every time I made a call. I am beyond used to it.
However, a big part of my new job, is installing phones in people's houses. I do not watch tv, or pay a lot of attention to the local news (I really should start) and I am not fond of this BS at all. It's so dumb.

Also, given that it is part of my job, you'd think they'd give me a memo.
