Is day labor still easy to find hanging around lumber yard parking lots or has the city crackeed down on this?
I have no moral issues using these guys for outdoor stuff...if I hired a landscaper he/she would more than likely be employing people of the same demographic, and paying them less at FAR MORE expense to me.

If one of them injures himself on your property, you're on the hook for the medical bills. (And every one of those guys standing around at Home Depot knows this.) The reason doing things legitimately costs more is that you are paying for the workman's comp insurance.

While I have no moral issues with it either, I consider it an unacceptable risk. Some guy falls off a ladder and that could bankrupt me.
