Just be careful with the Palm trees, Scorpions.
Stay away from Mimosa trees and ornamental Cherry tree (tree with burgundy colored leaves). They rot easily and borers love those trees.

Some trees that grew fast for me are Palo Verdes ( messy though) Mesquites, and Silk trees. Eucalyptus does okay too.

Palm trees provide zero shade.

I need 2 big trees. Hard to believe there are only 2 choices in a city this size! I think I am supposed to plant mid September or so and I will have to start looking soon!
