I am a little nervous because I am a first time renter and have zero credit. I know you have to have good credit to get into an apartment but would some landlords accept a large deposit and just let me rent anyways?

You'd be surprised how much better you look to a landlord than a lot of potential renters in town. You haven't screwed up your credit or otherwise soiled your reputation as tens of thousands already have.

No credit isn't bad credit. Try it and see. You have nothing to lose.

As a landlord myself (and someone who rented an apartment with absolutely no credit history) I can tell you that a credit history is not required, but rather, bad credit history is a red flag that landlords take into considerations.

Some landlords won't even check your credit score, and the ones that do really want to see if you have missed payments or collections on record (as opposed to just the score itself). In some cases, "no credit" will require a larger down deposit, but if you provide proof of employment that proves you'll be able to pay consistently with no problems, then even that can be waived. Good luck with your search!

By zero credit, do you mean zero debt, or no credit history (or both)?
