Wow, that IS good news! It's rare to find a big furniture store on that side of town so it just might do quite well at that location.

Downtown Summerlin is directly south of Red Rock Casino. As of now it does not go all the way through to Charleston. The north boundary road of Downtown is the south boundary road of Red Rock Casino.

Downtown goes only halfway to Town Center. Hughes owns the remaining piece however and could extend it. Hughes also has an open lot at the SW corner of Charleston and Town Center.

I think I see what you mean. To clarify the Downtown Summerlin construction project doesn't stretch to Charleston because Red Rock Casino is on that side and on the other side of the construction project facing Sahara is a vacant lot?

Thanks! From that I can see the Downtown Summerlin construction project is designated all the way from the South side of Red Rock Casino to Sahara with one portion designated to Dillard's.

I see what you mean about the half way division line that is the other Howard Hughes property between Red Rock Casino and spanning along Town Center Dr all the way down to Sahara.

Pretentious name, Summerlin is a housing development in the city of Las Vegas with some development on the county boundaries. Summerlin is not a designated town nor a city.

Shoppes at Summerlin, Shops at Summerlin sound a lot better and more appropriate. It is a majority shopping center after all.

If they incorporate as a separate town would that make you happy with the name?

I do not get easily impressed, I have seen developments way better and more than what is going up in Summerlin but Downtown Summerlin to name a shopping center is not appropriate, that's all. If you noticed the press release on the news, the developers are doing a lot of explaining why they are calling it Downtown Summerlin. Summerlin is majority in the city of Las Vegas and Las Vegas already has a thriving downtown and it is around Fremont st.
