So the house across the street from us was foreclosed a few months back and the bank just finished remodeling it about a month ago. The house had a for sale sign out and a few people stopped by to look but no takers.
This morning I got up and saw a Uhaul parked in the driveway and saw the for sale sign was gone. I called the next door neighbors and she says, oh they moved in last night, scary looking couple with a big mean dog.
Something didnt seem right to me, so I called the real estate office when I got to work and the agent about hit the ceiling! She says, nobody is supposed to be living there!
By the time I got home this afternoon, the cops were there, the bank was there and the people wouldnt answer the door. The bank ended up having to put a 3 day notice on the window.

I dont understand why trash like this cant be booted out immediately, the bank spent 30 grand to remodel and these people are going to destroy the place before they leave. The neighbors next door said she saw them take the fridge out last night and move an older looking one in.

Anyone else see this happen very often?

Something must have been up. If it was reported the very same day, that's breaking and entering along with theft and other crimes. Why would they have to leave a 3 day notice? Doesn't sound right.

There is no reason that landlord/tenant laws apply to these thieves. You have good instincts to look into it. What seemed off about them?

I dont know, it just hit me funny. The house was for sale yesterday and lived in today, just seemed weird. The Uhaul was small and the neighbor said they didnt move too much stuff in.

The woman wouldnt answer the door and the cops saw the big dog standing at the window, guess they didnt want to fool with it.

This happened around the corner from us a couple of years back to another house and it took the bank a few weeks to get them out. They completely destroyed the house while they were in it.

My wife just informed me that while the bank was there, they were going to have the water and power disconnected. Guess we'll see what happens next.

Pay the bank back for what? It was never their house. I can't believe the bank doesn't have more options at their disposable to boot these people out.

The cops should have immediately entered to interrupt a crime in progress. If the big dog attacks... use the pepper spray. I can't believe how impotent the police are in situations like these.
