I went to craigslist and saw listings for $199 for a studio or 1 bedroom apartment. Are these for real or is it a typo? Is it senior living? Is it weekly? I'd be calling the leasing office on Monday for sure.

I know Vegas is cheap, but this is too good to be true.

That price could be a weekly rate. I know of some cheap rentals that you have a shared kitchen and bathroom.

Often the small print for that pricing is .... the first month is $199 upon signing a ONE-YEAR LEASE.

It depends on the location you rent in. Here's a graph that can give you a good idea on rents depending on zip code. If you want to rent in the nicer parts of the valley look to spend at least 700/month. $500 might get you a place in a ratty area.

Notice that it's $300 a week, not month. Which works out to $1200 a month. Not so cheap anymore.
