I'm thinking of moving from Honolulu to LV or Reno. Any Hawaii expats out there who can recommend a good moving company who can handle the move all the way through across the ocean and then from the West Coast to LV or Reno? Also, any idea on what the cost should be (I am moving furniture and belongings from a 1 bedroom apartment)? Other moving tips would also be appreciated, if any. Thanks!

It's going to cost tremendous to cross the ocean and then by land. Sell all your furniture, and household stuff. It's not worth it.

That was another option I was thinking of, just packing up a few boxes with personal stuff and picking them up at the dock when they arrive, driving everything back myself.

Someone on the forum recommended a freight company. I don't remember the name though but maybe someone else does.

ALOHA!
we moved here 4 years ago and let M Dyer & Sons in Honolulu do all the moving for us including
our car. They were the best and the cost was not as bad as I had expected about $5k for household items (2 bedroom townhouse). Once in Vegas we continued to get great service as so many of the employees here were from Oahu prior. One even recognized me from my hometown of Mililani and went out of his way to make sure all went smoothly.
Good luck on the move, your going to enjoy living here on the "9th island"

I've heard that M. Dyer & Sons is one of the best movers in the islands. Will definitely keep them in mind when I make the move. Thanks.

Are you sure you are not going to miss the ocean and beaches?

I'm not a beach kind of person. The last time I went into the ocean was back in the late 1970's, although I have walked along the beach a few times since then. The main thing I am going to miss is the local food. I guess L&L and the California Hotel will be seeing a lot of me, lol.
