My friend and I were at the SLS today, had a meal at 800 Degrees, delicious pizza. Reasonably priced and similar in pricing to the 800 Degrees in the Monte Carlo. We gambled a bit as well and on the way home we noticed the Beer Garden facing the Strip was packed. Love SLS and I wish it success.

We went to Delano yesterday, while I love the Mandalay Bay I can't say the same for Delano. It was nicely done but fun/vibe factor of SLS is better than Delano. SLS vibe especally on the bar/restaurant scene is similar to that of the Mandalay Bay, just on a smaller scale.

So the pizza is the same as the one in Monte Carlo, I haven't even noticed it there.... We are getting spoiled with pizza options in this city now

Agree, SLS is very nice. Modern and clean. Even if they spent very little to refurbish, the end result of the transformation is amazing.

Great tasting pizza, we had the Chicken with Gorgonzola/Onions and Italian Sausage with peppers, we tried a side order of meatballs and it was good as well. Yes it is the same as the one in Monte Carlo. I agree with the excellent transformation of the old dated Sahara into SLS as an amazing resort. The pool looks inviting as well even if it is not as large as the others on the Strip. I love the center bar with its hanging LED screen, amazing visuals. Next time my friend and I we'll have a drink in the bar.

SLS is another bust just like downtown project.
Employees are bailing and walking out from that place left and right.

SLS will bankrupt very soon.

I haven't been to SLS yet, but on Face Book, dozens of locals are panning it, and saying they ruined the Sahara and it's just no where near Las Vegas standards for a hotel/casino. One thing they were complaining about is lack of live entertainment. I understand that the casino is very small too. Is that right? Sounds like yet another case of Non-Las Vegans coming in here to show Las Vegas gaming experts how to do things. Remember the non-gaming guy from Florida that built Main Street Station? That lasted about six weeks I think.

We ate at Jose Andres' Bazaar Meat inside SLS. It was very innovative, the food was excellent, and the service was two thumbs-up!

I work at the SLS as a bartender at one of the restaurants. Like MANY others, I packed my life up from a different city with the illusion that this hotel was going to be amazing. Far from it.

There's three clubs in the hotel (LIFE, Foxtail and Sayers Club). The Foxtail, in it's first month, has been completely shut down except for on monday nights for industry night (which isn't doing well either). Many people lost their jobs there.

Last Friday, SLS laid of 41 people including the beverage director who had been with the company for six years or so and Bazaar Meat let it's head wine sommelier go after seven years with Bazaar in LA. All of the management is on edge and freaking out about the future of their jobs. I can't blame them. It feels like amateur hour there. From what everyone has been saying on this thread about the hotel is true. At least the negative aspects of the joint.

As for me, I'm moving out of Las Vegas, unfortunately. Before I took the job offer, I was told I would be working 3-4 shifts per week and that's simply not happening right now and I can't wait for "busy season" or for when the new outdoor music venue will be built. I went three weeks where I worked one shift and now I'm one shift every two weeks. The full time people are working only three days per week (and I'm not sure how some of these bartenders are full time but that's a different story).

I saw one of the rooms and I was hugely disappointed. The room was soul crushingly small and ugly. The bed faced the window to an empty parking lot and the tv was on the wall… so you have to lay on your side to watch tv. Which, to me, is a huge design flaw. The entire SLS is cheap. Go to the back by Bazaar Meat and look at the cheap, wrinkled, hipster, Johnny Appleseed tapestry velcro'd to the wall. The carpet throughout the entire casino isn't classy and it's an ugly, cheap design move.

The food venues are good except I don't like the Griddle Cafe. HUGE portions of very, very, very bland food. The nightclub Life has been a lot of fun (mostly because I get a free bottle/table on Sunday nights) and I like the music they play. Other than that, when I come back to visit I'm going back to feeling like a king and staying at the Cosmo, Wynn or one of the many other amazing properties on the strip or El Cortez for cheap fun. Coming from LA, there is ZERO advertising for the SLS Vegas out there. Don't expect LA folk to keep this ship afloat because no one knows it exists.

Employees are indeed bailing left and right including myself. It's been a good run and I enjoy living in Las Vegas a lot. The cheaper cost of living has been awesome! If I were to be grandfathered into the union, I'd consider staying but my venue's contract will never have union eligibility. All of the other places at the SLS will have the option to become union. However, it's nice that my venue pays union wages but that's not enough to keep me here.

Sorry about it not working out but you nailed every point. I was surprised how empty it was 2 days after grand opening, the only good thing about it is you don't smell the bathrooms like the old Sahara did.

Hope you land something soon.

I am not a fan of the sls. Glad I'm not the only one, but I do hate to see it go to waste. I for sure do not want it to be vacant again.
