Thanks Scoop for knowing about the whole picture another example of the ocean temps and weather is take a whale watch ride out of Gloucester MA on a hot 90F day but bring your sweatshirt and Jeans because when you get out in the Atlantic about 50 miles it will be about 50 F it is quite amazing how the weather changes on the oceans. A temp rise of 1 degree or decrease of 1 degree of the water can affect our weather world wide everyone thinks it has to be some dramatic shift to affect things. If you watch the movie The Day After Tomorrow for the scientific facts only it is very informative but a bit Hollywood expanded on the cause of the weather or climate change for the movie.

Gee whiz! I said the same exact thing . . . what a cool summer and everyone was crying about 99 degrees yesterday. That's so much better than the regular August mid 100 teens. 99 is a walk in the park. I even rollerbladed today in 99 degrees. Didn't blink. . .

Completely agree. This isn't just the nicest summer I have experienced in Las Vegas, it was the nicest summer BY FAR. No year since we moved here can compare.

I am told that "back in the day" before all the irrigation and pavement, summers were always like this. Can anyone confirm?

Summers used to have much lower low temperatures. Daytime highs haven't changed much. Maybe this is why you felt it was a great summer when in reality it wasn't all that below average. The higher low temperatures are making average temperatures go up even if the highs are staying down.

I was searching on Weatherunderground.com, one time, which can go back 20-30 years of weather history, what was one of our more blistering summers, and I wish I could remember the exact year, somewhere in the early 90's, it was one blistering summer throughout the entire SW!

It scared me just to read of that, worrying about that ever happening again!

I remember living in Phoenix in the early 90's, 1993? when they had a record-breaking 121 degrees at Sky Harbor which even effected the flights that day! And it hit 126 in Lake Havasu!
