My second car has head gasket leak, oil pan leak, and bad transmission seal. It is 2001 car with 120K miles.

The parts you get from it could easily be well over $2000. Airbags/Cat Converters/Newer Tires/etc

What to do?

Obviously, I want to get some money back.

How do I sell to a NV salvage dealer?

What kind of minimum amount of money I can get regardless of car?

List it on Craigslist for someone who wants to put a used motor in it . That should fix all of those problems.

Maybe send me the details on it

The type of car it is (which you didnt mention) makes a big difference. Honda civic or accord someone on craigslist will buy it for sure. Something like a saturn or dodge neon you might not get too many takers.

Never done one of those head gaskets so I don't know.

Maybe you can pass it along to some one here who needs it for a good price and Cyborg can fix it for them for a decent price. Then everyone benefits and you keep it in the board "family"

I am sure someone here needs a car . I already found a 2nd one for us

I asked my husband who is mechanic and off the top of his head, he thought the fix would be upwards of $1400. He qualified it with that it depends on the make and model of the car and where, exactly, the leaks are.

Salvage dealers don't pay squat. Maybe between $200 to $500 dollars depending on condition.

FWIW

As Everdeen said, the salvage price will be $300-$500. Depending on the model of vehicle, you could probably get $1000 at least on Craigslist, probably more.

If you want to part it out, you'll need to know what the high value (and highly desirable) parts are, be able to remove them yourself, and then likely list on eBay and ship them.

If you cannot do the repairs yourself then I doubt you'd be able to part out the car yourself.

I have a Subaru Forester.

Head gasket is not an easy fix and one of the most expensive repairs. The parts are low-cost, but it requires all day for a mechanic to unhook the engine from radiator, drain the oils etc.

Also unfortunately, the oil pan cannot be removed without raising the engine 2-3 inches to access a deep recessed bolt.
