But with TMOBILE there is no access fee. You can get the phone, put a 702 number on it for $100 and put it in your closet for a year and still have the same credit on it 12 months later. You can even set it on call forwarding or to page your real phone if it gets a call.

Not in 2 or three weeks when you give notice, quit your job, pack your belongings, move to LV, find a place to live. Most employers expect you to give 2 weeks notice. In 2 weeks you can give notice, pack your stuff and put it in a truck and send it to a LV storage place or store it in a local storage place and go and get it later taking only what you need in a small trailer to LV. Then you can live in a long term hotel for a few months while you start your new job and find a permanent place to live. Then you can go back on a long weekend or pay somebody to move your stuff to LV. People do it all the time.

This is true of most cities unless you live nearby or your resume shows that you have a connection to the city. If I were an employer in Las Vegas and somebody sent me a resume for a run of the mill job from Cleveland, the very first thing that would come to my mind is "why the hell does this guy want to move all the way here for a job he could get in Cleveland?" and then I would answer my own question by saying "he wants to move out here and experience the excitement of Las Vegas and he will tire of the heat and get bored and leave me with an open job and move back to Ohio" at which point his resume would be deposited in the trash can. I am not sure I would recommend somebody use a LV address and phone number to fool an employer (how are you going to explain you are still working in Cleveland if you live in Vegas?) but I would recommend IF you use a LV address and phone number, write in your cover letter something like "I am in the process of relocating to Las Vegas to join my finance who has accepted a position there. We plan to make Las Vegas our permanent home and I am seeking a position there." This will give the employer a valid reason as to why you are moving there and let him know you plan on being around for awhile and are not just there for an "extended vacation". And the local phone number will let him know "hey this guy has already got one foot in town anyway".

There is no access fee unless you use it that day. You can leave it in the closet and you will be good until you use it. its a $1.00 a day when you use it only. You can set the call foreward also. I'm not saying tmobile is not better or worse, its just you get more min for your money on AT&T, plus free mobile to mobile.

OP: Sounds like 'The Life'...doesn't it? Are things so bad where you're coming from that you're willing to live like that with your child? Do things sound so rosey enough in LV that you're willing to do all this?

Listen to your parents...they think its a bad idea.

I didn't say I would do it but lots and lots of people do it all the time. Not just there but here in Atlanta too.

Kev, your suggestion was a good one. My observation was directed to the OP.
