We're at that uncomfortable time when the bigots are starting to realize that their prejudice is no longer acceptable. So they're trotting out the ridiculous arguments: "If you let gays marry, people are going to marry farm animals next."

I heard the same things about feminism and civil rights for minorities. "If you give them an inch, they'll take a mile." This is VERY old news.

My partner of 18 years and I got married last night. We weren't looking at it from a religious standpoint, just a legal one. That's why we chose to get married at the drive-thru window next to the marriage license bureau. Just the two of us. No family. No friends. In our eyes, we have been married these past 18 years, now we are able to take advantage of the legal benefits granted by the federal government to others that were not previously available to us.

My advice to anyone who opposes gay marriage: Don't marry a gay person. I defend your right to that.

This thread needs to stay on the local topic. Other discussion on the general issue belongs in the general forum, where it's been going on for some time. Thanks.

It is kind of hard to believe that Nevada was so late in SSM. It's even harder to believe my home state of Oklahoma had SSM before Nevada or even Arizona. Either way, it's great to see Nevada being part of the 21st century!
