Leasing a car is for suckers...unless you REALLY need the write offs.

Probably better to lease than "buy" a new car every 3-4 years, then trade it in for something new, just be be up side down on it......right before your next trade up.

Just roll that old loan into the new loan.

You like never ending payments huh?

Think about it:

1. With a lease, you never own it
2. You make endless payments
3. You still need to pay insurance
4. You are still required to do the maintenance
5. Something goes wrong with engine, you are responsible

By buying:

1. You own the car
2. Car loses value but at least you can still sell it for some money
3. Everything else applies as in leasing.

Result:

Better off buying.

Don't forget the mileage overage costs in leasing.

All of our vehicles are paid off. But there are some people who don't mind "never ending" payments. Better to make payments on a 2015 rather than a 2005. Especially if the payments will be relatively the same. I used to think leasing was one of the dumbest decisions in the world. Up until my aunt, who's been leasing since the 80s, explained to me that her roughly $300 a month payment isn't for a new car but for the convenience of always having a new reliable vehicle. My aunt has never done maintenance to any of her vehicles.(part of the lease contract) she has never been in a vehicle older than 3 years. She has never been stranded on the side of the road. She has totaled 2-3 vehicles and has been in a brand new vehicle in a matter of days. Basically her $300 is no different from a utility bill for a piece of mind.

I doubt that we would ever lease a vehicle but I understand why some people do it.

If it ever was, this is no longer a Vegas specific thread. Leasing vs buying cars is a general topic. Closed.
