Coming in to town with a buddy for the marathon....have been searching for some live music joints and have not found anything on the main vegas calendar sights other than some big names that I am not interested in. Looking for some good Rock music in a cool environment, Sunday and Monday. Is there a good website to look at? Thanks

Check out Palms Monday Night, Sante Fe and the Fat City Horns. Best musicians in town.

Don't know what you're into specifically, but the Double Down, near the university is famous Double Down Saloon - Eastside - Las Vegas, NV, United States | Yelp

I also recommend the venues in Downtown, which is the new indie, alternative hot spot. The Bunkhouse has big indie acts: Bunkhouse Saloon - Downtown - Las Vegas, NV, United States | Yelp

As does Beauty Bar: Beauty Bar - Downtown - Las Vegas, NV, United States | Yelp

Griffin is pretty hipster, but great jukebox: The Griffin - Downtown - Las Vegas, NV, United States | Yelp

House of Blues has big name indie bands (Queens of the Stone Age etc) - a lot of Coachella side shows. I don't recommend it to hang out though (crazy drink prices, plus it's a chain, so who cares. But good line up):House Of Blues

Vinyl at Hard Rock is similar, but better. Lesser known names but some excellent bands: Vinyl - Eastside - Las Vegas, NV, United States | Yelp

Artifice is a locals place. Mostly DJs, but some live music: Artifice - Downtown - Las Vegas, NV, United States | Yelp

never been here but have heard good things: The Dive Bar - University - Las Vegas, NV, United States | Yelp

Love love love Frank's Tiki Room. No live music, but the most obscure surf music jukebox in the world: Frankies Tiki Room

The Las Vegas Blues Society has an event calendar on their site. See what's at the Sand Dollar(Bar 702) too. Not the best location but I figure you can outrun the bad guys!

It's not bad once you're inside I talked with the new owner for about an hour the other night at a Stoney show. Older guy, semi-retired, letting his daughter run the joint. It's a great locals blues/bluesy rock bar. Cheap beer, lots of smoke, in a crap neighborhood, but I don't think it's unsafe by any means.
