I am relocating to Las Vegas, and have, perhaps what might be considered a somewhat unorthodox question for this platform. I am a Registered cardiovascular specialist with 18 years of experience in a cath lab, and would like to know what the average pay is for a cath lab professional with my number of years of experience, or where I can obtain that information, prior to any job offer negotiations. I have tried to look on Nevada's labor statistics website, but because this is such a [seemingly] obscure profession, I was unable to find any information. I know this is a long shot, but if anyone can offer any info, I would greatly appreciate it.

PS. Also any insight into the Cardiac hospitals in LV would be a bonus

Felt bad no one answered. Maybe it is an obscure question. So I looked it up and the first thing I found was that salaries are 'lower' here than average by about 20%. That's no surprise because wages are low here in general. However the COL is also much lower and so is the tax burden.

Also found a couple jobs that may or may not be real.

People say if you need quality healthcare here, the first thing you buy is a plane ticket. That's probably a bit harsh. But we are not 'world class' in healthcare.

Thank you so much yellowsnow! I truly appreciate you taking the time to not just reply, but to conduct research on the subject for me. Im not sure how accurate any salary websites are (part of my plight), given they are an average, but it certainly helps prepare me for negotiating.

The job listings are real, and, in fact, there was one on there I hadn't seen before, so thank you for that - it's an additional line I can drop in the water. Never a bad idea.

As for the healthcare, I suppose I will do a little more research on that, but are there no particular hospitals that have a particularly outstanding reputation in a particular field, or are progressive in any field? Unfortunately, it matters only slightly, as I do need to work, and unfortunately, my field of practice is very narrow, in that it is specific to one specialty/department.

Thanks again for all your time and suggestions!

I always say if you want real experience work at a teaching hospital or maybe the VA. Lots of cases and you get to do your work every day. But if you have the experience already, go for the best deal you can get financially. I think I would call one of the labs here and talk to one of the techs. See what they have to say!

But I'm old and so is my experience. I was a fellow at Baylor on DeBakey's staff and then I managed 2 research labs and taught surgical skills to new interns at Texas Heart. One of my first students was Dr. Cooley's daughter. Blast from the past!

Richmond, va 46k. Vegas 35k. Col won't be 11k less here... probably closer to 3-4k... better in Virginia with that low of a salary.

Hey there! So depending on the hospital group I would say anywhere between $45-$50. Possibly a little more because I don't know anyone that has been in Cath lab that long. Uhs and hca would be in the upper 40's and the roses in the lower 50's. Sorry I am not more specific, I don't have the union pay scale handy. I do hear that the east pays much lower so regardless of experience she would get paid pretty well out here. Oh and umc is about $10 less than UHS and hca. Hope this helps :-)

I copied the above from one of my "specials" friends. I knew a couple of folks who made a killing with overtime. They were clearing 6 figures and that was 8+ years ago. I'm a little cloudy on your job title certifications. Are you rad certified?

Hi MAXIALE02! Was pay of $45-50 hourly pay, or $45-50K per year? If it is hourly, is that base pay rate, or with call back pay? If its hourly based, that is fantastic! Are you sure?! Yes, it is considerably less in the East.

I am not a rad tech, I'm a RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist), with formal education, not just the registry (as opposed to some who only have received on the job training, no formal education). An RCIS is sort of like a hybrid education of an RN, a Rad Tech, and the technical skills of a PA. I also am ACLS certified.

I am not familiar with a health care unions, as VA (where I am currently) is a "right to work" state, and even the mere mention of the desire to bring a union into the hospital will get you fired. Do you know how working under a union differes? is it desireable to be unionized, or do people dislike it?

I have applied for 4 positions now, and this information is very valuable, in order to negotiate a reasonable, yet just wage, should I recieve an offer. That being said, if any of your specials friends know of any cath lab jobs, let me know - I am all ears! The more lines I can drop in the better

Thank you so much for your help!
