November 2014 Report:

Tourism up 3.6% compared to last year(2013).

Casino revenue down 5.6% compared to last year (2013).

So we have more people coming to Vegas but not spending as much at the casinos.

Have prices gone up? Have machines become stingy?

They spend all their money in the shops before they ever get to the machines.

Aren't the nightclubs doing really well? Seems like these clubs are the big money makers these days. Some of the DJ's make huge amounts of money per night.

World -- Calvin Harris top paid DJ

Gaming win has little to do with payback levels or table games rules these days. The real issue right now is China. Credit is tight and anti-corrupt efforts are in full gear. Its really hitting Macau hard, but it affects Las Vegas too. Chinese play from a hundred customers a month makes or breaks these revenue levels.

Yup. Day clubs, night clubs and pool parties are huge money makers. It's one of the reasons that some casinos are switching to year round pool parties.

Machines are stingy and not just on the Strip and downtown. The locals casinos the worst. We quit playing. Solves that problem.

Gambling revenues are down but profits at the casinos properties are up The casino's corporate thugs do not care where the money comes from because they will squeeze the last dime out of you any way they can. The "we love locals" line is means we love to have you come here so we can squeeze the last dimes out of you also. It is a ugly baby so get use to looking at it. The only thing saving LV ass is the convention business and most people going to those get their rooms and etc paid for by the businesses having them if they had to pay for all of the stuff them selves they would not step a foot in LV.

Why do people talk such nonsense here? 90% of what I read is just a mix of urban myth and people's biased opinion of how Las Vegas should be run. So few even have an inkling of how the resorts make their money in current conditions. Here's a little hint, they really couldn't care less about getting your modest slot and table play back by comping more and lowering prices.

I agree with IsishSpy 100%...
I drive our tourists around for a living, so I know what is bringing them here... It's conventions. People dont have to cross the country anymore to sit at a slot machine... Reservation and private casinos are being built at insane rates across the country and world for that matter.

Las Vegas hosted more than 22,000 conventions and business meetings last year... And that number is growing.

Mandalay Bay is adding 500,000 square feet to their convention center and the LVCC will soon be getting a $2.5 BILLION facelift/expansion.

So we are drawing in more people, yes... But these type of people are here to wine and dine their clients and not sit at a slot machine, which is overall a very good thing for Las Vegas.
