Yes, there is a strange attraction to LV. The major markets here are Ca and Arizona, in other words, a weekend market. Who will take up the slack weekdays? Conventions, and foreign junkets. 20k, or about a 15% increase in new rooms coming? Wanna bet visitor volume doesn't increase 15% in the same period?

And they paid for it? Crazy! I would have walked out.

No prices are posted, according to them; and the kid dug-in before the father could react. The receipt was very clear, and listed said item. Apparently, a segment of society has no idea what is reasonable, as recently a football player in Buffalo paid a kid $200 to clear his driveway of snow.

Yeah, I know. But I was already paying a hefty price for the room. Not that I'm a high roller but I didn't reserve the cheapest room either.

I'm probably an exception to the rule but, it's certainly made me think twice about going back. Hotels in other towns don't hassle you with gym charges and such.

I'd rather try someplace else where I can relax a little more and not have to worry as much about being ripped off every single minute.

I realize that's what Vegas is but, it's just gotten a little too extreme for my taste.

Bellagio is very far up the scale. Staying there indicates that charges will not be a problem. There are vastly better deals economically all over the strip..and off strip there are extremely nice places with vastly more reasonable economics. Try the JW Marriott on Rampart. No strip...lovely rooms, nice place, reasonable...though not cheap....costs.

Very interesting article. IMO, more proof we're definitely in a recession.
