How many jobs are really the type you are thinking about in a city with nearly 1 million employed workers? Maybe a few thousand?

Of the hundreds of thousands of jobs in Las Vegas, a few are for beverage servers. We are a major metropolitan city, not just the Strip. You don't have to be a model to work EVERYWHERE, just in the micro-specific field of dayclub/nightclub server, and to some extent, Strip casino server.

I believe you were the one asking about dental hygiene school. Nobody cares what their dental hygienist looks like..

There is nothing either illegal or immoral about discrimination - unless it is against protected classes of citizens. There is nothing either illegal or immoral about an employer holding out for someone with local roots -- unless that entails discriminating against someone in a protected class (the main ones are over the age of 40, racial minority, based on religion, women, sexual orientation, sexual identity, veteran status, add in children in a housing situation, a few others).

You really have to ask yourself *why* do you want to move to Las Vegas, just as you would any other potential city. Is it for a career in the hospitality industry? Is it because of the exciting nightlife (at least for someone your age)? Is it because you a great business opportunity providing services to the large retired & aging population? Is it because you fancy yourself a professional gambler? Is it because of the cost of living? etc, etc, etc.
