Hey all!

Currently an east-coaster, but preparing for a move to Vegas for work. Visited many, many times, and have a very slight feel for a couple neighborhoods, but visiting and living are two completely different things, I know!

My wife and I want to significantly downsize our home, so we're looking at condos and townhouses with a super-duper-max price of 160k, with at least 2 bedrooms, and a pool (either on the property, which I know is unlikely, or in the community).

I know Summerlin and Henderson are both great neighborhoods, but I don't know if those areas would have anything available in our price range. And I've looked online at a community called the Manhattan, which I believe is near the strip. Anyone have any experience with it?

I'll be working very close to the strip, too, and I'm not sure if that means A) I want to live close to the strip (contrary to what a lot of locals would likely say is ideal in most situations), or, B) I want to be as far away as possible since I'll be dealing with strip traffic and tourists 40 hours a week.

Anyway, I know this all may seem a bit jumbled, but, in essence, I'm looking for good neighborhoods with 160k properties with a pool (my wife insists on this part. She says we aren't moving to the dessert without a swimming pool lol)

Thanks!

Sign up with something like Ziprealty and start looking. There are lots in your price range. Neither Summerlin nor Henderson are close to the Strip. Me personally, if I worked on the Strip I would want a reasonable commute.

Does it have to be a condo? Those monthly fees never go away.

I live in a gated community on the southwest part of town called Lamplight Gardens, currently going for about 150-160k. They are 2-3 bedrooms, 1300 SF, with a community pool. Very quiet and close to the 215. There are a few similar communities around town. Worth checking out.

Manhattan is south strip. If you work say south of Spring Mountain it works pretty well. There are a number of places in that area. Look for the zip 89123.

If further north you can head west to 89117, 89145 or 89128.

There are areas in Henderson that are convenient to the south end of the strip. Zips such as 89074

The key thing is where you need to be...
