Hello,

I am trying to find somewhere for my partially disabled father to live. He currently lives at my house, but I am moving shortly and he will no longer be able to continue living with us. He was hit by a car a while back and got some brain damage, so he has some trouble with a few things like walking for small periods of the day but for the most part can take care of himself.

The most that we can afford is $400 a month for rent. As far as Im aware this is simply not enough for even the tiniest apartments, however I also feel it may be difficult to rent a room from someone off craigslist because of the situation. So I am really not sure what to do.

Is there some sort of disability housing I can quickly get him into within the budget?

Thank you.

Yes, there is but quickly is the issue. There is housing for disabled seniors that is income based. But there are waiting lists and it takes time. Your father has to apply for SS disability and medicaid and that can take a long time in itself. After he has that I believe he can also apply for housing.

Here is a group that can help. Links | Southern Nevada Center for Independent Living These people know all the answers.
