Hey all,

I submitted a thread a couple weeks ago about my then-upcoming move to Vegas for work. Well, my wife and I got here Thursday night, after driving straight through all the way from West Virginia. Like most everyone else, it seems, we had it in our minds we'd want to live in Summerlin, but after viewing a couple properties there we both agree it seems like you pay for the privilege of living in Summerlin as much as anything else.

Then today our agent showed is some homes in the mountains edge master plan community, and we were blown away. Is anyone here a resident of mountains edge, or at least in possession of some more I depth knowledge of the neighborhood? Basically, is it at nice as it seems?

Thanks!

I bought new construction in Mountain's Edge, moved in 2 weeks ago. So far I like it. Master plan fee just went up to $31/mo, but the huge new park is nice, and there are private security patrols.

It's a little further from 215 than I'd like, but otherwise I love the location. The mountain views are great.

Is the 31 dollars all you pay? Or is there an hoa fee on top of that?

Going to Mountains Edge I've always ended up on the worst designed road in the state, Fort Apache. Is there a better way to get out there? I couldn't deal with the traffic and crappy road layout if that is the only main road in and out.

HOA's + SIDS/LIDS = around $90/month total depending on the community you live in..

I've lived here for 8+ years and love it.. Some communities are nicer than others, but in general, quite safe and very quiet.. There was a nasty home invasion about a month ago, so Metro and many many people living here are on high alert for that type of thing.. 5 of the thugs were caught so hopefully it was a one time thing..

Any other questions feel free to pm me..

Fort Apache isn't a road to Mtns Edge.. I guess you could take it, but that's the long way around.. Try Durango or Buffalo or even Rainbow instead

In my development, yes. I have no HOA or SID/LID.

About 6 years ago we looked at a house in Mtns. Edge. I don't remember which community it was in but the backyard was huge and I really liked the floor plan.

Traffic is a problem around that area. Isn't there construction on Durango out that way or is it done?

There's occasional construction revolving around the new home communities that are being built on Durango and Buffalo, but otherwise traffic isn't a problem.. Durango is still only a 2 lane road from Windmill to Blue Diamond so it takes a few extra mins there sometimes..

Light years ahead of where it was back before Blue Diamond was an 8 lane road.. Driving is great now, especially with the Cactus overpass open, alleviating some Blue Diamond traffic

Take Buffalo until you need to turn onto Ft. Apache.
