That being said, the casinos don't care nearly as much about cheating in poker as they do in other games. Why? They don't have money on the line. As long as the game keeps going, and they collect their rake, they really don't care so much. If it becomes obvious enough that they get complaints, they might have to do something about it.
So false it's silly. In sports and poker the only thing they want is a fair game free of cheating. Cheating in either kills off a game fast. It puts money in the hands of those who are not going to keep it circulating in the game.

An exception is Poker, such as Texas Hold 'em

You can play games, like CandyCrush, run poker odds calculators, etc, etc.... Most likely you will slow down the game

I love it how people make mention that you will be "exploited" (i.e. easily defeated), when they haven't a clue about what your fancy algorithm is...

Texas Holdem is a basic game (even the no limit variant) there are already computer programs that can play it extremely well with enough variation and adaptibility to throw off and defeat highly advanced players
Where do you play? This is not true. Every dealer will tell you no phones while you are in a hand. And it is illegal, the law is quite clear about using a device to assist you playing. You can use a printed out card or a sheet with all your information, but use an electronic device and you are committing a crime.

I've seen active blatant collusion going on at major strip resorts, with no attempt by the room management to do anything about it. And yes, it killed a table pretty completely.

I was a little green at the time. If I knew then what I knew now, I'd have had a serious discussion with the room manager, and if I didn't get satisfaction, I'd call the GCB.

It is true for Poker cash games - you CAN use phones, tablets, heck even laptops

You must be thinking of Poker tournaments, or other table games

If you're not allowed to count cards, you certainly won't be allowed to use an app to do that for you. They watch people on the cameras, what you are talking about is cheating and they will toss you and ban you. I don't know if you

From BlackJack : Card Counting : Casino Gambling Game Rules and Strategy Guide - VegasTripping.com

"In actuality, Card Counting is the act of keeping track of the Deck Composition of yet-to-be-played cards by keeping track of the ratio of low cards (2-7) to high value cards (Aces and 10s) that have already been played."

"You cannot get arrested for counting cards in a casino, however the casino (if they suspect you are a card counter) may ask you nicely to leave. Usually they do this by saying something along the lines of "Sir, you're too good for us. We welcome you to play any of our other games, but we can't allow you to play blackjack here." The player usually has some idea that this is going to happen because floormen and pit bosses start lurking about... analyzing your play, watching your chipstack get higher and higher. Getting booted is seldomly a surprise. It is the players duty to be cautious when counting cards."

This is from More Reader Questions on Blackjack

"Most casinos have regulations that forbid players to use electronic devices including cell phones while they play blackjack. However, most players who must make a call while they are playing (for example, a player gets a page), can do so by just stepping away from the table and then using their cell phone. By the way, this turns out to be a technique used by some pros to avoid betting in a negative shoe. They fake getting a page when the count goes south, make some excuse that they need to me a call, and then wait until the shoe is over before returning to the table.

The OP's question relates to Poker, not other table games. The information you posted is NOT relevant to Poker

Yes. I do live here. You don't if I recall correctly. And in 78, I was a little kid, so they didn't let me hang out in the casinos. Except for Circus Circus.

If you've never heard of casino security delivering an ass-whooping for perceived cheating, then you don't know as much as you think you do.

I've heard of it, but not really since the mob days (hense the 1978 reference ). If they had tried doing that in the last ten years, management would lose their license, and the guy getting the beating would end up owning the casino.

Things change.

It gets so annoying when you tell someone to do something that is blatantly illegal. Here is the Nevada Statute. This isn't a some casinos thing or some games rule, this is Nevada law and it can be a FELONY charge.

NRS 465.075  Use or possession of device, software or hardware to obtain advantage at playing game prohibited.  It is unlawful for any person to use, possess with the intent to use or assist another person in using or possessing with the intent to use any computerized, electronic, electrical or mechanical device, or any software or hardware, or any combination thereof, which is designed, constructed, altered or programmed to obtain an advantage at playing any game in a licensed gaming establishment or any game that is offered by a licensee or affiliate, including, without limitation, a device that:
1.  Projects the outcome of the game;
2.  Keeps track of cards played or cards prepared for play in the game;
3.  Analyzes the probability of the occurrence of an event relating to the game; or
4.  Analyzes the strategy for playing or betting to be used in the game,
Ê except as may be made available as part of an approved game or otherwise permitted by the Commission.
