I've been in Las Vegas for 2 years and have Centurylink for my ISP. I had no problems until they
upgraded their DNS servers. I've posted my problem on the computer page, but if my problem can't
be fixed, I may have to change my ISP. What net providers are residents using? I probably won't
bundle because I'm satisfied with m Directv and will keep my Centurylink phone service.

Appreciate any suggesting if I decide to switch internet providers.

We use cox and I don't recommend them. The grass is always greener. Centurylink was my fall back. ..

Just use Google's DNS servers instead. Login to your router and use the IP addresses 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as your DNS servers. These are Google's public DNS servers and they work great.

I couldn't handle Century link because unless you have fiber service, their speed is too slow. Cox has been good speed and reliability wise. I pay $74sh a month for 100Mbps down.

Cox. They have the most fiber in town.

Cox is the only player if you want speed and reliability. You can have one or the other with other ISPs, but not both.

Yep, not many options here. Canceled everything else I had with Cox and now only have Internet, I pay A LOT for it but it's fast and reliable.

1. I have fiber optic. 2. Other forum suggested 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 or
208.67.222.222/208.67.220.220 3. I just ran a speed test 5.98 mbps
download and 5.10 mbps upload.

If you pay for their 1Gbps service and that is your result then you have a problem. Call them and get a service call.

Before you call you may want to run the test again and be plugged directly into your connection(no router) with an Ethernet cable. This way you can be sure your router isn't the problem. If it is an integrated modem/router then it is their problem.

I just changed my DNS addresses to the 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4, so I'll see what happens in a few hours.
Even though Centurylink advertises a faster speed, my area (I call it a blind spot with everything)
only has a 1.5M High Speed Internet. Now I'm getting a speed of 7.39 mbps down/5.08 mbps up.

Oh, I thought you were saying that you had their fiber service which is 1000Mbps. The speeds you are getting are typical for Century link. Outside of fiber their max speed is 25Mbps, but I've never seen anyone get that in reality.

The $50ish a month Cox internet gets you 50 Mbps down and the $75ish one gets you 100 Mbps down.
