Here a good sign spinner can make $25/hour, and more, being better offers from other companies.
While I find them an annoying nuisance, in most municipalities they are a way around the sign permit process, and must be a successful marketing tool or they wouldn't be so common. You also have the traveling sign truck there, something that has not caught on in other cities. That too is a great way around sign ordinances, but they add to the traffic.

Wow dude...

At least they are out there doing SOMEthing... Think... Just for a second if possible... About the town you are speaking of.

Would you rather have them down on the strip begging? Would you rather have the female spinners on some corner trying to pull tricks? Maybe they would be better off on state aid?

Not everyone is gonna be a CEO.

Which brings up an interesting point. If the companies attached a sign to a light pole they would run afoul of the sign permit requirements. Erect a mannequin and attach it to that and they are fine. What's really the difference?

Pretty sure the mannequin is still violating sign laws. I'd assume it needs to be a physical person to skirt the sign laws. They probably just aren't being caught, I assume sign compliance enforcement is low on the priority list.

Some of the Spinners are skilled and entertaining. I've got no problem with them. After all, they aren't in my way when I'm driving, they're off to the side. At times, it's free entertainment until the light changes.

Over 15 years ago I made $11 an hour on weekends to spin signs. It was a great job for students and you got to listen to your Walkman while you worked. It paid better than retail or food service and it was mostly weekend work.

Yep, feeling pretty old after that post.

No different than being entertained on your cell phone while at stop light right?

That would interfere with the movie I'm usually watching on the dash display.
