I was curious how they would do after the revamp. Prices seem to have gone up significantly - I guess management figured the "cool" factor would make people <cough hipsters> think it was worth it.

Now the only thing I would buy there is the WoodChuck cider for $2.99. I'll eyeball the giant chocolate bars. I think this flavor of F&E is doomed.

Smith's (which used to be higher priced years ago) is actually getting even more price competitive even though the nearby Food4Less (same corp. parenet) closed.

Hate the revamped Fresh and Easy stores. All the prices shot up, they brought in crappy brands and totally wrecked their original vision. I hope Aldi's comes here. We need more stores!!!!!

Sorry about the loss of jobs. Otherwise, GOOD RIDDANCE!

Tesco should have opened a string of Tescos. And Ron Burkle was an idiot for buying that train wreck.

I was thinking that in our area we already had a Whole Foods and a Trader Joe's. Then the Fresh and Easy went to the Green model and a Haggen's opened up at the Von's and Sprouts opened another store just 10 minutes away. I was starting to that the niche market was getting saturated.

Plus there's an Albertson's, Smith's and Walmart in the area. Sure enough Haggen's went belly up just after opening and now the revamped Fresh and Easy is a dead fish in the water too. I really wonder how the proposed smaller and more affordable version "Whole Foods 365" is going to do in the similar niche market when it comes out.

I also just discovered our closets Target's food section. They even have some produce and the Walmart closest to us doesn't have that.

I've only been to Fresh and Easy twice. It always seemed a little bougy to me. I really like Sprouts. Smiths is good but for better fruit and veggies at better prices it's Sprouts.

I'm really curious to see who will take over the Vons stores that were sold to Haggen. Some people on Nextdoor don't understand that the FTC made Albertsons get rid of the stores - they think they could turn back into Vons or Albertsons.

I'd be happy to see Raley's or one of its other brands (Bel Air, Nob Hill) move into this area. I always liked their stores in the SF Bay Area and Sacramento for everyday shopping. It's not quite a Wegmans, but much closer than Albertsons, Vons, or Smith's.

Not that F&E or Haggen were at all competitive in the market, but with both of them failing at the same time that Von's and Albertsons merged and Smiths killed Food For Less, our very competitive grocery market has gotten much less competitive.

God bless the ethnic markets.
