Funny you should mention this now because I've been just thinking about it recently as well - especially since we are moving to Las Vegas this year. All our family is back east as well as our parents and relatives cemetariies. If we live for several more years in Las Vegas, do we want to be shipped back to a cemetary in the Midwest? I think not. So I checked out the cemetaries in Las Vegas and found one not too far from where we will be living in the NW. If we make it long enough (5 years or so) before needing their services, we plan on buying a doublewide (plot) to ease the burden on the kids.

It's in the article. Up to $3000, but you can go for the BBQ special which is just a few hundred and a coffee can.

May I suggest: DONATE! It's much more rewarding to do something positive for someone else... maybe it'll even get you into heaven if you believe in that stuff.

I like the idea of just dropping my body out into the desert somewhere and let the vultures have a good dinner on my behalf! An all-you-can-eat buffet!

I believe some of the Indian tribes do this! It's called, giving back to nature!

Full body donating is the way to go. I highly recommend the following book on this and just about anything else you might want to know about death, cadavers and such. The author, Mary Roach, goes into great detail about medical donations and how very respectful and solemn they are treated. Fascinating book:

It makes me sad to think of any of you guys dying.

Locally, Nathan Adelson Hospice can point one in the right direction for end of life care, and donations and such.

There is a service called green burial where they can use no embalming fluid, bury the body in a biodegradable casket, etc. Not all funeral homes offer this service, though.

Looks like this place does:

Green Services | Kraft Sussman Funeral Services Inc
