The cost was for my seat in a copter that took us in and out of one of the very scenic GC rafting runs.

A buddy of mine just got a boat at a storage unit auction and we're planning on doing some fishing. He went last weekend and put in at Willow Beach with no problems at all. If you have a boat with even a trolling motor, you should be fine to return to the same spot. I haven't been fishing in years, and think that might be a fun day.

Hell, I don't want to pay 3 grand at all.
I've done kayaking at Willow Beach, fun and just keep an eye on the motor boats, many will not care if you are right next to them. Courtesy is not in their vocabulary.

Kinda like our drivers? I've never tried kayaking. I could hurt myself in a padded room, so kayaking is probably out of the question. I can pilot / drive a boat well, but I'd probably manage to knock my own teeth out with a paddle.

When I was 10 or 12 I went on a canoe trip down the French Creek river in PA. All day trip, about 18 miles. It was a blast. I'd like to take a 3 or 4 day trip this time, and NOT just paddle around at willow beach. I want to go down the colorado.

The new river is impressive. I've seen them base jumping off the new river gorge bridge. Water is like 140 feet deep at the edge underneath it.

This will be a good training regimen for me. Swimming upstream is good for recovery workout.

Fun and a great exercise. I used to kayak Lake Mead on a regular basis. Fun going to an island, lounging in the middle of Lake Mead. Well now of course, you could probably walk to the island.
