I have been reading troubling reviews about Republic Services for residential trash removal. I will be relocating to a home I am purchasing in Enterprise. Is there an alternative trash removal service available? Maybe there is an option to transport my own trash to a rubbish location? Thanks for your advise.

first off, most of the people submitting reviews are people who may have something to complain about. for such a large area of service, there will always be issues of some kind somewhere. personally, after almost 20 yrs, I cant think of any problem I have ever had with residential trash pickup.

that being said, there is no other option unless you want to pay someone with a truck to come pick up a large quantity. yes, they will allow you to go to their dump site for a entry fee.

Of all the things that can go wrong Republic is well down the list. Only thing wrong with them is their collection system where you can get a lien slapped on your house with no real notice if a credit card expires etc.

Republic is not optional. You pay even if you have another hauler. It is a County wide deal between Republic and the government. If you electric is turned on you pay.

Find someone on Craigslist, get them over to do a quote

Counter-offer them exactly half of what they quote and pay cash

What exactly do you consider troubling??? Do they say trash will be picked up Monday morning and they don't pick it up until noon??? Do they NOT give you the size trash cans you think you need??? Do they make noise when they pick up your trash???? Just wondering what would be so "troubling"....

We are more than happy with Republic. They have always done a fantastic job for us. I can't believe some of the things I see people put out and they gladly haul away. Back East we paid almost double for our trash pickup, they ONLY took what fit in their bin (about 2/3rds the size of the bin issued by Republic) and to bring your own trash to the dump is was about $140/pickup load. I cleaned out my mother in law's basement it cost over $1,000 making runs to the dump for a week. Here there is no charge for dumping your own waste at any Republic transfer station - it's included in the service fee. This has been a god sent for us as we remodel our house.

As others have mentioned there's always people who will gripe. Heaven will have to put in a complaint department for these people. I've been very happy with their service.
