I am going to need internet service when I move to Henderson in 3 weeks. I have Directv and I know they couple up with Century Link for the internet. Was wondering if they have reliable service. I know Cox is the other major player. Any advice on how to get the best deal from either company? Im look for only a 10mpbs download speed. Also, do they all charge like $100 to install? ty for any information

Is there usually any choice? I thought only one covered any particular area.

In most areas there's usually the cable company with cable Internet and the phone company with some flavor of DSL, or fiber if you're lucky (Verizon FiOS, CenturyLink fiber, AT&T uVerse GigaPower). That's two choices.

Bundling satellite TV with another service often puts restrictions on your satellite TV. You're treated differently than if you were a direct customer of DirecTV or Dish, and you're limited in making changes to your service, etc. The inconveniences I've read about offset the $10 or so in savings you'll get each month.

I didn't think Fios was available out there. I knew about Cox and Centurylink. There was Clear wireless. I didn't know about AT&T either. I assume all are not available in all areas.

FiOS is not available here because Verizon is not the ILEC (incumbent local exchange carrier). CenturyLink is the ILEC. I listed three different phone companies as examples, but there is only one ILEC in a given area.

Cox Cable Buy Cox High Speed Internet now | Cox Communications

Century Link https://www.centurylink.com/fiber/pl...-vegas-nevada/

LV Net Las Vegas Web Hosting ISP and Web Design - Wireless High speed Internet WISP

Sprint bought out Clear wireless and I don't think Sprint even offers it anymore but services the existing customers.

There is also HughesNet satellite internet that is an option to some that still don't have cable and fiber plants in their neighborhood yet.

If he offers you the 5Mbps business service, you should avoid it. There is another thread here where a bunch of us fell for this and ended up spending hours to get our service restored; me included.
