My Stepson is looking for a 1 bedroom apartment or studio and would like to keep rent around $550 or less. Anyone know of anything in the Decatur and 215 (north side) area that fits that price range? I know it's a long shot. Thanks!

There are several apts around Nellis AFB where you can get in for $500-550.

This one (Sahara View Apts) is on the south side of 215, two lights from Decatur. I live across the street in The Versailles. It's a very quiet area except on the weekends if there is an outdoor concert at The Palace... maybe too quiet for a young person. Except for Sahara View, all the other apartment buildings around it are for 55 or 65+ only. The one bedroom is really a studio where there's a "half-wall" separating a tiny living room from the bedroom. The pool is the size of a large bathtub, but it does have parking behind a gate and plenty of curbside parking.

Yea 89130 and 89131 are tough areas to find cheap housing.

Thanks! I'll tell him to look around that area.

Thanks, opposite end of town though, he needs to be at 215/Decatur on the north side of town, too bad as it looks like a deal.

Not sure why decatur and 215 but, as mentioned, there are some cheap apartments near nellis afb that cater to the younger enlisted and perhaps some rougher types but all in all pretty safe for a young man with some wits about him. Also Craig intersects with I15 right there and Lamb and 215 not too far. It's a great area for thoroughfare access. It should be more popular, but it's not very desirable amongst LV residents.

There really isn't much in the way of cheap apts at that location. There are some nice apts on Rome blvd, but nowhere that cheap in rent. There are some new apts going up right next to the apts on Rome. They are between the apts and the storage place. Probably not that cheap either.
Best bet is to try to pay more and get the cheapest one bedroom there. Or rent the cheapest condo at Terrasini. Or get a roommate to pay half the rent. Or rent a room with house privileges.
I personally would not recommend the Nellis AFB area. Very rough around the edges in many ways. I guess it all depends on what someone thinks is an OK enough area.

There are some cheap looking apts down on Craig road near Rancho. Probably around that price point. The area is older and a little sketchy, but better than the nellis area in my opinion. I do not know the names of the apts, but they are all one story, older, duplex looking types.
