The time of year is important. This is nice weather in Vegas. NYE you can do anywhere. Super Bowl is great but it is just one game for a half day and then it is done -- that is mostly a BBQ and family thing. March Madness is just bet after bet after bet with lots of drinking and fun. Perfect Vegas weekend getaway.

There were a lot of people in town this weekend for NCCA tourney. It also doesn't hurt to have St. Patrick's day in the mix.

Since you all asked......I am here to provide answers....

NCAA has become YUUUUGE in the past 25 years or so.

In 1988 a few buddies and I thought it would be fun to go to Vegas (from Santa Barbara). It was a blast, and we kept it up every year until 2008 or so, when the hassle (and our advancing ages ...LOL) made it not so much fun. But all through the 90s and the early 00s........those were some fun times. Some guys get together for fishing in Baja and such.......we did Vegas.

Crowds notwithstanding, it IS big on the male bonding calendar. Lots of similar groups have taken our lead. They come from all over the country. And explains why the Strip seems like such a sausage fest over those 4 days.
