My point is that no one should be priced out of routine dental care. The bigger problems start when routine care ends. Not knocking care in Mexico at all! No one should have to leave the country for dental care, prescriptions, etc. People are conditioned into thinking that going without, unless you are blessed with insurance or money, is acceptable. It isn't. Our system is pervertedly expensive and exclusive, and that is not OK.

Hear hear! I totally agree! I have the free medicaid insurance which covers everything, EXCEPT dental and vision. Thank God I have been blessed with great teeth and excellent vision. I do not know what I would do if I had problems with either. I would be screwed for sure.

Not necessarily so. My dentist talked me out of paying for insurance because they don't cover anything. It costs me less to pay for my own than to pay dental insurance premiums.

I have my tooth cleaned three to four times a year.

^This.

Since my brother is a dentist, he and I have had this conversation.

He says that has had this conversation with his patients. They go down to Mexico and come back bragging at the dental work they got down there and how cheap it was. He said it's fine until something goes wrong. Then you are SOL. You have no protections. None.

I just switched to an Aetna plan, and I was encouraged, looking through their Provider List, to find Dentists listed in Tijuana! How about that for a vote of faith in dental work in Mexico!!!

Even if it was part of my plan, I probably wouldn't use their services anyway, as it might not be any different than going to an American Dentist, talking you into having things done, which aren't necessary, because the insurance will help pay for it!

I'll just stick to Washington Dental on Revolution in Tijuana, even though they're not on Aetna's Provider List!
