To pay more and get less, of course. But, social cache!

Yep. I've had neighbors tell me they wouldn't be caught dead in the Mexican supermarket down the street.

Why? They're the same freakin' potatoes that they sell at Albertsons, just one-tenth the price. I'm guessing this neighbor would completely lose it if someone spoke Spanish within earshot. A total xenophobic melt-down.

Oh. My. God!

The best one ever was at a class I was taking at CSN:

"I'm moving to the Paseos, so I never have to hear Spanish again!"

Moving to a development called "El Paseo" (the excursion), in the city of Las Vegas (the meadows), in order to avoid hearing Spanish again. That's a special kind of stupid, right there.

Some friends (very nice, but strange in some ways) wife told my wife once that she would never go to San Diego because of all the Mexicali's there.

This was a result of the "church" they go to that preaches some ugly sh1t. It's amazing how really nice people can get brainwashed.

I wonder if it's OK to post the Sam Elliot picture for such people?

Probably not.

Default Cheaper to get your own grocery at the market?

Is it safe to assume that a tip is expected by the delivery person & how much or at what percentage of the grocery cost would be the norm?

The Von's delivery drivers have refused tips when I've offered them. But, I still offer.

Some companies forbid it. I worked as a Jackpot rep for a while. I would write the freaking check and still could not accept a tip.
