Thanks to everyone who had something to say about my "live in LA/CA, buying rental in.." 5/17/15, I appreciate it.

Sorry to take so long in getting back to this thread, I've got a loved-one in the hospital and that takes most of my time and energy.

I did a quick 24 hr. turn-around to visit those properties. I narrowed it down to one complex and, even though so many, this forum, didn't like Paradise, this complex was just fine by me under the circumstances, neat/clean garden complex, bright rooms, large floor plan. Yes, Uni students, etc. but I've become a minimalist in my older years and prefer to spend my money on something interesting rather than a big house, taxes & it's upkeep.

Actually, they had a fixer that really needed TLC and I would love to do just that but, with my loved-one in the hospital and my lack of familiarity with landlord/homeowner support, etc. I thought I'ld take the easy way out, no fixer, at least not for now.

I'ld like all your suggestions for Home Warranty companies, property insurance companies, property management companies, anything yo think I might need to take care of this rental property when the time comes: carpet, tile, doors, windows, a/c, plumber and electrician, if you've found someone you love.

I have all those people, here, (and I love/trust them) but they can't refer me to anyone, there. I've never used 'Angie's List' though we have it here. Do you have it there? I think the customer ratings make for good contractor's.

Send as many as you want, I'll have to weed through and interview.

Thanks so much, I am really looking forward to spending more time in Las Vegas.

Make sure that the complex you're thinking of buying in will allow rentals. Many complexes only allow 10% of the total number of units to be rented and most have hit that limit.

to OP, why couldn't you add your comments to your original thread instead of opening a new thread. How do we readers know what was in your original thread and follow up on it? If you are lazy to find your original thread, I am sorry, but I am too lazy to follow up on your follow-ups.
