Up here in the NW we have something called Evening Magazine's Best of Western Washington, where they have viewers vote on the best things, like best spa, best bartender, best burger, etc.

Does Vegas have a yearly "best of" list? Is it legit? I'd like to know the general public consensus on little things, like best hot dog, best tattoo parlor, etc.

It does but it's all hyped by actual businesses that are nominated.
For example, if Restaurant @!MGM has been nominated then all employees from MGM are instructed to vote for that restaurant and etc.

If you can find small independed business on that list then it may be legite but when you see casino restaurants, stores on that list it's all fake and hyped by actual casino employees who are directed to vote for it.

Majority of Locals can't afford Las Vegas Strip Hotel and Restaurant prices.

Default Totally...

That's what I figured. I was hoping that Vegas had some kind of local alternative news source. I'm sure a lot of the best stuff can be found at the big expensive properties, but the valley seems to be full of hidden gems.

Several of the local LV magazines do a "best of" series each year.

The review-Journal does one:

2015 WINNERS | Best of Las Vegas

since you asked about best hotdog - the winner was a food truck called "Dude - Where's my hotdog"

Glad to see my C-D recommendations for Pot Liquor and Cornish Pasty won...

... but there are also some selections that leave me scratching my head and asking, "WTF?"

At least Olive Garden didn't win Best Italian again this year.
