I am planning on visiting Las Vegas with my wife for 5-7 days between August 13 and August 28th. I just haven't on what day. My sister lives in Vegas as of 1.5 years ago, so we'll be fine as far as accommodations go. I'm trying to figure out if there will be anything special going on in Vegas during that time and if so, what days would be most worthwhile to visit.

There will always be something going on, every single day. However, whether or not you find it "special" will depend on your interests. Can you narrow down the subject a bit?

If you can wait until October, the weather is usually wonderful. In August you won't want to go outside. You'll burn your feet on the way to the swimming pool.

Is it really that bad in August? I know that Nevada is supposedly hot, but is it unbearable to the point that you wouldn't even wanna go out in August?

I and the Admiral will go out in August and in fact the front of the house will pretty much be open until close to noon.

Buzz, who is a close neighbor, is being a wimp. We are both old and beat up...but it is still a very pleasant place in August.

And my dog and cat will be laying around the patio and bitching about coming in when we close the patio doors around noon. And as soon as the sun gets to the horizon the doors open back up and the animals head outside.

And I can make it to the pool even in the ulltimate high of the day. Across brick and concrete patio. The water makes it all worth while.

"Hot" is relative. You opt not to have your location shared with us, so we can't answer your question, but as others have said, the weather is generally much more pleasant here in the Fall.

And the month of October is when everyone waits to have their outdoors events. One really nice one (usually) is Art in The Park in Boulder City.

But if your idea of fun is to walk around on the strip, as long as you don't mind 105+ temps, and the occasional monsoon storm, then August it is.

If you are from a cool climate, August might be unbearable. Or you might enjoy the change of weather. It's all relative.

For a guy who used to go jogging with my Lhasa Apso in the middle of the day in August, I'm getting to an age that I don't even like to walk from the air conditioned house to the air conditioned car in the summer time. And neither does my Lhasa Apso.

October. zombie walk. Great weather. Excellent bands downtown.

It's a no-brainer. October is our finest month. We became a state on October 31st, but we can't observe it on that day anymore because it upsets some Mormons (who are considered non- Christian heretics by the evangelicals) and those ass wipes too.

They can't seem to deal with the fact that Nevada became a state on Halloween.
It's a great time to be here. Just check out the bands on the Fremont street experience's website!
