There has been an increase in violent crime throughout the country. How do we compare with other major cities?

Yes... far too much in the way of violins in our Las Vegas society.

Overall Vegas actually compares favorably against similar sized cities last I checked. Not so much in regards to Violent crime though. Vegas hasn't had a good track record with auto theft either. Some years leading the nation.

I knew this wasn't our resident troll, that person says the same thing every time.

I haven't had any issues here in 8 years (knock on wood) even going in the more shady parts of town, my son's coach had his Dodge Magnum stolen though. You just need to be vigilant and don't leave valuables in sight, it seems the car burglaries up here in the NW are looking for loose change.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions. I checked LVRJ online again tonight and first news is that some women got stabbed with a knife inside Wallgreens Store on Decatur and Tropicana.

I really think the crime and violence in Las Vegas is getting out of control. I see all kind of shady people on the streets when I drive. I'm afraid to stop at most gas stations and only use two that I feel are safe for me to get out of a car and get some gas.

I seriously think about leaving Las Vegas and I think crime in this city is just going to get worse and worse. Something is not right.

Get yourself a good dog, a can of pepper spray, and know your surroundings. This is true for any woman, anywhere. I have to tell you, I'm not in the Vegas lovers column here, but I have lived here my entire adult life.

The vast, vast majority of people here have treated me with kindness, or at worst indifference. And I've put myself in some unwise situations. You don't have to live in fear of this town. It won't eat you unless you let it.

It 'seams' Henderson at least is usually in the top ten safest cities nationwide, so I don't know know what's frightening you.

Aren't most of these crimes involving people that know each other?

Apparently the guy that stabbed the woman in the neck at Walgreens knew her or was stalking her. Because he was intent on killing just her according to news reports. She died at the hospital.
