I prefer the creamy peanut butter too. Although I just went through two boxes of Trader Joe's oat and honey granola bars that I bought to go camping at a concert several weeks ago. Finally finished them.

I've always wondered why Crunchy women would wear yoga pants.

The pants are made of luon, the primary fabric found in most of Lululemon's performance wear products. Luon, which is trademarked by the Lululemon, is 86 percent nylon and 14 percent Lycra.

Nylon, of course, is a generic designation for a family of synthetic polymers, more specifically aliphatic or semi-aromatic polyamides. Lycra (or Spandex or elastane) is yet another synthetic fiber; it's a polyester-polyurethane copolymer.

Doesn't sound very crunchy compared to a more sustainable fabric such as cotton.

Getting back to the original subject...

If I was of the crunchy political persuasion, Vegas would be the last place I'd be looking to move. I think this is one of the prime reasons I want to move there.

Based on what the OP is looking for, my suggestion would be locating to Portland, OR.

Hence the Slightly Crunchy title.

Yoga is your answer btw.

Then there are the more crunchy of the group that share their eco friendly yoga clothing suggestions, ect... ect...

This is probably the biggest reason I will never "fit-in" in Las Vegas. It is a magnet for people who are governed by their "flight or fight" brain.

Fascinating. Thanks for posting. BTW, I don't think the underlying academic research supports the conclusion that "...political ideology is essentially hard-wired into the brain." There is still the whole "nature vs. nurture" argument.

One other ironic item: The Salon article says "But here’s the twist: The scientists themselves insist that 'citing differences in the psychological and physiological traits of liberals and conservatives is not equivalent to declaring one ideology superior to the other.' " At the same time, the title of the article does indeed state that. The title states Conservatives are "different." That is just as biased as a hypothetical alternative title that would say Liberals are "different."

I pulled the salon article because it's the most accessible. (Have fun slogging through an article in Behavior and Brain Sciences.) There have been dozens and dozens of studies that come to the conclusion that political orientation -- like sexual orientation -- is mostly biological. (We thought "nature vs. nurture" was largely responsible for sexual orientation at one time, as well.)

The reason that all of these studies zero in on conservatives is because they're studying fear. Fear is easily measured -- whereas creativity is not easily measured. How we react to fear is an accurate predictor of our political worldview. Conservatives HATE these studies -- but it certainly explains their fear of immigrants, fear of minorities, fear of attacks on their religion, and their preoccupation with firearms.

The problem with these "studies" is that they are often black/white in nature.....if you're "conservative", one is into religion, "fear immigrants", etc. That's a marketing/media/political definition, usually created for control and putting things into neat categories that often don't exist so neatly in reality.

The reality is there are tons of "conservatives" out there that aren't at all religious, don't fear "immigrants", don't have a "preoccupation with firearms", etc. and simply are "conservative" in the sense that we like to see laws followed and like to see the financial books balanced.....you know, that crazy thing of spending within one's means and not running up endless debt. Real "radical" things.

But enjoy playing the this/them left/right blue/red black/white division game that the power control freaks want us to buy into.
